Alum Powder (Mordant) 50g

Description

Our Alum Powder is Aluminium Sulfate – Al2(SO4)3 – that has no iron contamination.

Alum is used as a mordant in natural dyeing and is considered the best mordant for protein (animal) fibres.

The recommended ratio is 10g alum per 100g dry weight of fibres.

Used in conjunction with tannin, to produce an alum-tannin-alum mordant, creates a mordant that can be used on cellulose (plant) fibres.
